CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - These Good News stories sometimes materialize out of thin air. I was mailing a package this morning at the FedEx store in North Charlotte when a man with a bird on his shoulder walked into the store.
It wasn't a little bitty bird either. A full grown Umbrella Cockatoo named Casper goes everywhere Gary Kaye goes. He's had the bird for 8 years and he doesn't leave home without her.
It's not everyday you see a huge bird perched on a guy's shoulder in a place where you mail packages. I started talking to Gary and Casper started talking to me.
People stop and stare and the man and the bird, especially when Casper uses her razor-sharp beak to give gentle kisses to Gary.
I got out the camera and started shooting, the rest is Good News.
