FORT MILL, SC (WBTV) - It's said the late Dale Earnhardt would have been pleased at the money raised by auctioning "first rides" on the roller coaster named for his nick-name.

The Intimidator at Carowinds officially opened in March. Some of the first passengers on the maiden voyage of the coaster paid top dollar to ride the first go-round.

The auction proceeds went to the Dale Earnhardt Foundation in support of several different children's charities.

Officials with Carowinds announced $10,000 in proceeds will all go to the charities.
