Two taken to hospital following crash in Mount Holly

MOUNT HOLLY, NC (WBTV) - Two people were injured following a single-vehicle crash in Mount Holly Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred around 9:33 a.m. at the intersection of Maple Circle and Belmont-Mount Holly Road.

According to Mount Holly Police, witnesses said the male driver ran off the side of the road and lost control.  The car skidded about 175 feet before hitting a tree in someone's yard.

Mount Holly Fire and Rescue workers had to free the driver who was pinned inside the vehicle.

Both the driver and passenger were transported by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte.

Police are still investigating the accident.
