Speak Out: Healthcare Reform Responses

Posted: Updated:

"Speak Out" is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Nick Simonette.

A few weeks ago we aired an editorial on Healthcare Reform and, boy, did it get a lot of response from our viewers.

One from Gina Robbins, regarding our presentation on Speak Out, said "How about instead of an editorial board, you get the opinions from your viewers?"

Well Gina, we actually get opinions from our viewers quiet often.  Here are a few, starting with yours.

She writes: "The Healthcare Reform bill may have its flaws according to the GOP, but is my life of any less value than those who already enjoy the privilege of health insurance?  I think not…"

BH Pressley writes: "Thank you for speaking out about our NC Attorney General not joining surrounding states opposing Health Care Reform.  I am personally disgusted that our state will not join others in trying to help the citizens of NC."

Mark Gentry speaks out: "I was so thrilled and proud the other night when I was watching the late night news and Nick Simonette did the ‘Speak Out' piece on the healthcare bill and states' rights.  Exercising our states' rights is our only hope to resist a tyrannical federal government…"

Dan Crawford writes: "I'll agree that the mandate is the worst part of this law.  But on constitutional grounds, there's nothing wrong with the law.   Let's call the States' Attorneys General lawsuit what it is, political theater."

Chris Taylor says: "I totally disagree with you.  The government requires by law that you have insurance if you own a car.  Why?  Because without such a law, insurance premiums would sky rocket.  Here's hoping you will present opposing sides like mine."

Well, we did present both sides from you, the viewer.

Thank you for your opinions, please keep them coming…and we will do so as well.

Tell us what YOU think. SpeakOut@wbtv.com
