Tuesday's Cover Story: Electing judges

Charlotte, NC -

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It's election day in North Carolina.  If you're like many people going to the polls today, you'll probably have trouble deciding whom to vote for in the judicial races.

Some voters say making an informed choice can be devilish difficult.

North Carolina is one of only six states that elect judges on all levels -- state Supreme court, state Court of Appeals, Superior court and District court.

In the past year, three judges in Mecklenburg County have gotten in trouble.  Two have left the bench either through suspension or resignation.

Is there a better way to elect judges?  Should they be appointed?  What are the pros and cons?

Reporter Jeff Atkinson will have that story, Tuesday, on WBTV's Primetime at 7 p.m.
