This week I traveled across the border to Ft. Mill South Carolina, to celebrate the season's most popular sport, and the areas most competitive team. Thousands of fans watched as the Charlotte Knights took on the Durham Bulls.

"I think it's great. It's great. Every year they put out a good team and it's fun to come and watch them." Dan Thompson lives nearby in Tega Cay. He's been watching the Charlotte Knights play for years. "It's so easy to get to... inexpensive...the crowds are generally polite, so things don't get unruly."

Thousands pack in each game to root on the home team, and to see Homer the dragon, their popular mascot. Tickets start at five dollars, and the Knights have discount opportunities each day of the week. If you go on Mondays, take part in their all you can eat offer, included in the price of admission. People line up for these lip smacking dishes. You can buy peanuts and cracker jacks, but the hotdogs, chicken fingers, and pizza are the true fan favorites. Thursdays are one dollar drink days, for the thirsty.

The Knights are the feeding team for the Chicago White Sox, and you will quickly see this is no amateur deal. "When one of their star players gets injured, they send them to us and we work their way back to health," said Patrick Starck, the Knights media director.

"These guys are one step away from the major leagues. We have a lot of guys with major league experience," said Starck. Alumni of the team include José Canseco, Manny Ramírez, Jim Thome, and Josh Fields, to name a few.

Regardless of your major league team preference, Knights games are fun for everyone. It's great quality baseball at an affordable price.
