"Speak Out" is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Nick Simonette.
Three major "Atta Boys" this week –
We begin with what, honestly, wasn't a strong showing in the NBA playoffs.
A clean sweep was not what anyone wanted.
But Charlotte Bobcats – do not hang your head in shame.
You made the playoffs.
You made us proud.
You brought in tourism and even more recognition to our city and your team.
This weekend, Charlotte is home to one of the premier golf tournaments on the PGA Tour – the Quail Hollow Championship.
The top players in the world are shining the spotlight on our city, and we offer our "Congratulations" to all of the leaders and volunteers who've help make this possible.
Now our focus turns to the next big attraction…this one all brand new!
It'll bring in people – and hopefully lots of them – week after week.
We welcome the NASCAR Hall of Fame, opening Tuesday, May 11th.
NASCAR tourists are dedicated fans.
They bring money and passion. That revenue and excitement will benefit Charlotte.
Congrats, NASCAR, for choosing the Charlotte area as even more of a home base.
While here, fans and locals alike might want to stop by any of our other great new attractions…
The Harvey Gantt Center, Knight Theatre, or the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art.
For whatever challenges we may face as a city, we've got to admit – Charlotte, North Carolina, is a pretty great place to live.
Tell us what YOU think. SpeakOut@wbtv.com.
