Police vs. Firefighters in a benefit hockey game

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The ice in the Time Warner Cable Arena is about as cold as ice gets. But the competition between public safety agencies has never been hotter.

It's time for what's become a yearly tradition in Charlotte. The 5th Annual Salute to Heroes hockey game is set for this Saturday.

Tuesday, the teams took to the ice to practice slap-shots and passes. This year, firefighters and paramedics team up against police to help raise money for benevolence funds to benefit injured heroes.

The guys talk a lot of smack during the game, that's typical. But it's all in good fun to support a great cause.
