Abused dogs rescued by Good Samaritans

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - When a Good Samaritan brought the Chow mix to the Lazy 5 veterinary hospital, the situation looked grim.

The dog picked up a new name, Charlie had a chain collar embedded under his neck.

The staff at Lazy 5 worked tirelessly to remove the chain as Charlie patiently sat on the operating table.

No one knows who Charlie belonged to, only that he had been abused and chewed through the rope securing him.

Now, Charlie is living the life of luxury. He's been treated for worms and the wound on his neck is slowly healing.

He's not the only lucky dog at the Lazy 5. One week before Charlie came in, Angel also showed up with a broken leg. Both dogs had been mistreated and abused but now have hope.

The staff at Lazy 5 is nursing the 2 dogs back to health and hope the public will help the cause. The hospital has set up a rescue fund called "Charlie's Angels". For more information on how to help, click here.
