SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Speedy Sheperd has been "scratchin" since he was just a boy. Now, the 82 year old is more seasoned than a fine bottle of wine, or an old broke-in fiddle.
Speedy's been around the world with his ax. He's played the big stages with Les Paul, Willie Nelson and Tammy Wynette. He's settled in Salisbury now with a touch of the arthritis. While the degenerative joint disease is usually a curse to a fiddle player, Speedy keeps right on scratchin'.
He's not only made a name playing the fiddle, but an equally respected status as a fiddle-maker. 78 instruments bare his name. They all sound better when he's at the helm.
