CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - 50 years ago this month, they were the sit-ins that changed society.
Four black freshmen from North Carolina A&T University made history. On February 1st, 1960, they sat down at the Woolworth's lunch counter in Greensboro.
They weren't served that day, but the next day they were joined by nearly 20 more students.
Their courage ignited a mass protest, across the Carolinas, against Jim Crow segregation.
