CAMDEN, SC (WIS) - Camden police say the girl's varsity basketball coach at Camden High School has been arrested on charges he touched a student inappropriately -- after allegedly meeting the girl on a Website.

Sean Cassidy has been charged with performing a lewd act on a minor and contributing to delinquency of a minor.

We're told he turned himself in Monday morning.

Police said the victim in the case is 15.

Kershaw County School District spokesperson Mary Anne Byrd says last Wednesday afternoon, a 15-year-old girl confided in another coach that Cassidy had touched her.

Byrd says the district launched an investigation and placed him on administrative leave and relieved him from his coaching duties.

Byrd said that on Friday, Cassidy sent in a letter of resignation, and that he is no longer an employee of the district.

Camden Police Chief Joe Floyd says the 15-year-old and Cassidy initially met online through a social networking site. Floyd said the two had been talking back and forth for about a month.

Cassidy taught Terrence Massey's government class.

"I want him to know I wish he wouldn't have done that," said Massey. "I did like him personally. I just wish it wouldn't have happened."

Chelsea Ward had him for history. "Why him? He's a nice teacher," said Ward.

Police say they have confiscated Cassidy's phones and computers for evidence, and that he may face additional charges.
