MATTHEWS, NC (WBTV) - The Antique Alley in Matthews is the home of all things antique. You might expect that. But there's a surprise when you walk in the front door, and it wears a purple hair bow.
"She's a smart puppy," says owner Jim Henley. He's talking about Pepper the dog.
Pepper came to the Henley's about 3 years ago. She's been a fixture in the store ever since she learned how to patrol it.
Pepper responds to Jim's commands; "Go make your rounds, go make your rounds!"
Pepper runs at break-neck speed up and down the isles not really for checking for much of anything, except cheese.
She eats the Kraft Single slices like they're going out of style. That's her paycheck. Cheese, and of course the attention from most every single shopper that stops into Antique Alley.
The walls are covered with customer pictures, each one features Pepper.
