CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Christmas is exactly one month behind us and most of us are still working to pay off those bills.
If you want to do yourself and your budget a favor, host a clothing swap party.
Farrell Hudzik and her best friends turned their usual girls-night-out into a clothing exchange.
"It's a great way to get rid of some clothes and pick up some things your friends either wore once or didn't like, or even shoes that don't fit," Hudzik said.
Think about it. Who knows you better than your good friends? If you are planning a clothing swap, get all of your friends on board with plenty of advance notice.
This gives everyone a chance to know who will be attending. That way, everyone can think about who might like the old stuff in their closet as they weed out the items they don't like anymore.
Colleen Angstadt held a clothing swap party a year and a half ago and the idea spread.
"You get sick of your clothes in your closet, you don't wear them anymore," she said.
Angstadt jokingly says the only downside is when you see your friends wearing your old stuff and it looks better on them than it did you.
Simple organizational steps will make the party fun and easy on everyone.
Have everyone bring their own shopping bags and ask everybody to help sort the clothing according to the sizes. You should also decide which charity you will donate any leftover clothing to.
Happy saving and happy shopping!
