SPENCER, NC (WBTV) - Patrick Snider is only 16, yet he is in the struggle of his life.

Snider was diagnosed with cancer last week.  He's now being treated at the Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem.

While he undergoes treatment, his family and friends are putting out an urgent appeal for prayer.

Snider's sister has created a Facebook page  that now has more than 1,300 members, all of whom are agreeing to commit to pray for Snider.  (NOTE: Since this story aired on WBTV, more than 100 more people have joined the Facebook page)

"The more we can get out, the more prayers we can get lifted," said friend Jay Baker.   "Maybe we can help Patrick out and maybe he can beat this and put it in God's hands."

Patrick's sister wrote recently that Patrick enjoys reading the page and seeing all the messages that are posted.

Snider is a popular student and outstanding pitcher for the North Rowan High School baseball team.
