Good News: Christmas trees for charity

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - James Dixon is proudly displaying his first harvest of Christmas trees that grew from seedlings planted 8 years ago.

His lot is on the corner of East Boulevard and Scott Avenue in Charlotte. Dixon is pleased with his first attempt at retail tree sales. He's also pleased those sales are helping other people.

$3 from every tree he sells goes to A Better World after-school program for inner-city kids. Dixon has already raised more than $1,400 to support the program.

He was in college when he planted the seedlings on his family's land in Virginia. Now, Dixon is reaping what he sowed, and using it to help others.
