“Speak Out” is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Nick Simonette.
This week we celebrate Veteran's Day. For many, it won't be a holiday. Especially for American servicemen and women stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq...and in many other locations around the world.
We know it's easy to tune-out news reports about war. Conflicts have been going on for so long, and reports of lives lost seem to be an almost daily event.
But, as we honor our Veterans this week, we hope there are some images you can't tune out...
Images that look into the eyes of those in harm’s way...
Americans that are willing to risk all to serve our country.
They are our sons and daughters, husbands & wives, mothers and fathers.
Who can forget the images that capture the joy of children reuniting with parents...
Spouses greeting their loved ones when they finally return safely home from battle.
All veterans deserve our respect and our gratitude. What can you do to say thanks?
Volunteer at a Veteran's Center…
Send a care package overseas this holiday season…
Or simply send an e-mail of support to a soldier far from home.
We've put some links on the SpeakOut Page at WBTV dot com to make it easy.
And if you are lucky enough to have a veteran in your family who made it home safely, count your blessings. And remember to say thanks to them too. They were willing to risk it all for your freedom.
Because WBTV is “On Your Side,” we encourage everyone to “Speak Out” – tell us what YOU think. SpeakOut@wbtv.com.
