BELMONT, NC (WBTV) - Just off South New Hope Road in Belmont, there's a pumpkin patch that's a little special.
The patch was set up by a team of 20 people and all the proceeds from pumpkin sales go to The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
14 year old Garry Turton is one of the driving forces behind the team. The teen has been working tirelessly since 11 to raise money for the cause.
In the last 6 years, the Belmont team has gathered more than $55,000 in donations and sales from different fundraisers.
This years Belmont Relay for life isn't until May, but the team likes to get an early start on raising money. So far, it looks like their strategy is working.
