The Good News Is... Friendship inspires Autism fundraising

By Kristen Hampton - bio l email

CORNELIUS, NC (WBTV) - A friendship formed at birth has led to an admirable fundraising effort.

Elise Weishaar and her brother Collin walked door to door in their Cornelius neighborhood in an effort to raise money for the upcoming Walk Now for Autism event.

The duo formed a lasting friendship with Tyler who's Autistic. The friendship inspired them to hit the streets looking for donations.

Together they scoured their Cornelius neighborhood, hitting 165 homes and raising almost $1,000.

"You really feel good when you help people. You just kind of get that warmth in your heart, because you know you just changed a kids life," said Collin.

The Weishaar family will walk tomorrow at the Walk Now for Autism event at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord.
