NEW YORK CITY (WBTV) - The Avett Brothers, a band from Concord, performed live on the David Letterman Show Monday night.

The Avett Brothers band has been plugging away at the local music scene since 2000. Seth and Scott Avett are from rural Concord where they grew up around music.

The brothers and their two other band-mates have developed a huge following over the years, enough to draw the attention of Columbia Records and sign a deal.

The newest release, I and Love and You is scheduled to come out today. On Monday night, the band made an appearance on David Letterman.

During the Letterman appearance, a commercial accidentally appeared, interrupting part of the band's performance on WBTV and another CBS station in Charleston, S.C.

"WBTV deeply apologizes to all of the Avett Brothers fans and our entire audience for our mishap last night," said WBTV General Manager Nick Simonette. "Please rest assured that we are investigating the cause of the problem and when it is determined exactly why the problem occurred we will do everything in our power to make sure a problem like that does not happen again."

WBTV will re-air the full video during the 6 p.m. & 11 p.m. news tonight and during the 6 a.m. news Wednesday.
