"Speak Out" is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Nick Simonette.
Benjamin Franklin. Patriot.
Thomas Jefferson. Patriot.
Abraham Lincoln. Patriot.
George Washington. Patriot.
General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Patriot.
General Norman Schwarzkopf. Patriot.
The list is endless.
Our question today --
Are you a patriot?
Friday is September 11th, now also known as Patriots' Day.
Show your patriotism.
Show your support of our country.
Show your belief in our Constitution.
Fly an American flag.
I will.
I can feel good saying that.
I am a patriot. I will fly our flag.
We hope you are a patriot.
We hope we all are patriots.
We hope we see stars and stripes proudly waving on 9/11.
Those flags are waving not just to show patriotism... but more importantly on this day, to remember those who died in the terrorist attacks eight years ago.
People like Sophia Addo, a 36-year old housekeeper at Windows on the World.
Or, Liam Callahan, a 44-year old Port Authority police officer.
Or, 31-year old mother and administrative assistant, Jill Marie Campbell.
Patriot.
Patriot.
Patriot.
We could name all two-thousand, nine-hundred, ninety-three people lost that day.
They all died as patriots.
Fly your flag on Friday.
Remember this day the way a patriot should.
Because WBTV is "On Your Side," we encourage everyone to "Speak Out" - tell us what YOU think. SpeakOut@wbtv.com.
