House fire in Hickory intentionally set, officials say

HICKORY, NC (WBTV) - Officials say a fire at a home in Hickory early Friday morning was intentionally set.

The fire was at 164 18th Street Place NW and was reported around 7:32 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the house.

No one was inside the burning house.  Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 30 minutes.

A spokeswoman for the Hickory Fire Department said the fire caused more than $10,000 in damage.

Officials are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
