A Child's Place needs school supplies

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - An Charlotte organization called A Child's Place is in desperate need of schools supplies.

The organization is in its twentieth year of serving homeless children enrolled in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.  Officials say the need is especially great this year.

A Child's Place is a non-profit United Way agency and officials say they lost 32 percent of the organization's funding this year.

Last year, they served 1,509 homeless children in more than 100 CMS schools.

A Child's Place keeps a running list of the supplies it needs on its web site under the "Critical Needs Section.

If you want to donate supplies, they may be dropped off at the organization's office which is located at 601 East Fifth Street in Charlotte.
