NEW YORK (AP) - If you need further proof that the airlines have gone to the dogs, you need look no farther than the first flight which took to the air yesterday for Pet Airways.
The first carrier of its kind had the first flight take off from an airport in Farmingdale, N.Y.
A husband and wife operate the airline. They've designed a fleet of five planes, flying among New York, Washington, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles. The $250 one-way fare is comparable to pet fees charged by the largest U.S. airlines.
Dogs and cats fly in a main cabin that has been retooled and lined with carriers in place of seats.
