VALDESE, NC (WBTV) - A typical 2 year-old boy loves trains. Shane is no different. The boy lives with his Grandmother about 100 yards from a very busy set of train tracks.

"We have to make this trip about 4 or 5 times a day," said Cindy Gibson as she trekked along the short path with Shane in toe.

A few weeks ago, a simple trip to the see the train almost ended with tragedy. Cindy and the young rascal ran the entire distance but coming back, Cindy collapsed in the road from a severe asthma attack.

"He grabs me by my shirt and arm and was trying with all his little might, just a pulling, and just grunting. As soon as I got to the grass, he said Nanny hurt and took off running," Gibson said.

Cindy couldn't breathe or move, but a 2 year old and his two little legs ran to the rescue. Shane ran to his house and told his Grandfather, "Nanny hurt."

A visit from "the big truck" (ambulance) and a few puffs on her inhaler, Nanny is fine. All thanks to her "little hero".
