Why is CMS hiring?

Posted by Zack Smith - email

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A delayed response from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system. CMS is still not answering our questions about why they've suddenly gone from firing mode to hiring.

280-plus jobs have been posted on the CMS website, mostly teacher positions.

Less than two weeks ago, the school board gave final approval to axing 855 jobs.  161 of those were teachers.

We tried to contact CMS last week, but offices were closed Friday.  We asked them for a comment today -- they said wait til tomorrow.  We will keep you posted.
