Sign a car, help a cause

HICKORY, NC (WBTV)- A local racecar owner's idea has already raised $2,500 for the Children's Miracle Network.

Her name is Lea Reece, and she's a server at the Golden Corral in Hickory. The car's driver is Tim Reece.

Last year, Lea came up with the idea to let customers sign the race car for a $1 donation. With a goal of $5,700, she's almost halfway there.

Saturday alone yielded $150.

You still have a chance to add a signature. The car will be displayed at the Golden Corral every Saturday until May 30.

On May 30, the car will be at the restaurant until 1 pm. Then it's time to get ready to race.
