CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -  Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Detective Kim Simma had a one-word reaction.

"Unbelievable," said Simma after watching undercover video shot by WBTV.

The tape shows a man standing next to a car with the trunk door open.   The inside of the trunk was loaded with laptop computers.

All looked new, all had brand names and all were wrapped in bubble wrap.   The man standing by the car was looking to sell.

$250 a piece, or cheaper.  He was willing to negotiate and people were buying.

"There's something wrong, " said Simma.  "They are either stolen, or bogus.  One, or the other."

Click on the red camera icon and watch this Problem Solver Investigation to find out which one it was.

Then come back and watch our web extra which has our extended interview from Detective Simma, as well as important information from WBTV's computer expert Robert Kowalczyk.
