The Good News Is... Marathon concert is going strong

STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - After months of hard work, the show is ON!

The United Way of Iredell County is putting on a record setting musical concert that won't stop for 10 days.

The showcase started this morning at 8:53 a.m.

With three stages set up, and more than 850 artists signed up to perform... these guys are a shoe in to take the new title of the world's longest running concert from multiple musical artists.

The current record is 240 hours set during a festival in Hungary.

The goal for the Statesville group is 252 hours... non-stop... did I mention they can't stop?

Well, 5 minutes between performers and only two minutes allowed between songs (those are the "official" rules according to The Guinness Book) isn't really stopping.

They'll play every single genre of music, every single hour of every day for the next 10 days.

So much hard work has gone into this show. So many volunteers have put their souls into it. The goal is to raise money for the United Way of Iredell County, but the hope is that the concert will also raise the spirits of anybody who wants to stop by and watch.

If you're interested in stopping by, it's at the Signal Hill Mall in Statesville and it's free!

You can also watch a 24 hour live web feed from the concert anytime of the day.
