Officials in the Gaston County town of Mount Holly have declared a state of emergency which could make it eligible for federal funds.

On Friday, fallen trees were scattered throughout the town.

They were brought down by powerful winds which roared through the area early Friday morning.

Many say the damage is a tell-tale sign of a tornado.
