Tornado in Gaston County

A storm which moved across portions of Gaston County early Friday morning left a trail of damage.

The National Weather Service confirmed the damage was the result of a tornado which touched down on the eastern side of the county.

As people awoke to the damage Friday morning, many got out to begin the process of cleaning up the debris.

The good news is that there were no injuries reported in county as a result of the storm.

From Sky 3, you could see a line of toppled trees showing the path in which the tornado traveled.

The twister ripped apart the roof at the Oaks Commerce Center in Belmont.  There were pieces of the roof scattered as far away as a half mile.  The damage at this facility appeared to be worse than other places we visited on Friday.

In Gastonia, the storm caused trees to crash on homeowners' roofs and storage sheds were knocked around.

One woman told WBTV that she found someone's playground in her yard.
