Charity Road Rally

Date: Saturday, June 14th
Event Starts @ 9am
Venue: Charlotte Merchandise Mart
Address: 2500 E. Independence Blvd., Charlotte

The Metrolina Association for the Blind hosts its first ever "Father's Day Braille Road Rallye and Car Show" on June 14th. Sanctioned by the Central Carolinas Region of the Sports Car Club of America, the event features 60 entries, half competing with sight-impaired navigators using Braille directions to complete the prescribed course. WBTV's very own Molly Grantham will be driving, with navigator Cassidy Hooper (featured in the book "Forever Hellos, Hard Good-byes").

The goal of the road rallye is for a driver and navigator team to complete an unknown course using written instructions. The team coming closest to the predetermined time and distance is declared the winner. Penalities will be incurred for finishing too early, late or off the prescribed distance.

Entrants are scheduled to leave the Merchandise Mart starting at 9am. The Rallye Awards Ceremony takes place at 3pm. The car show runs from 9am until 3pm.
