Barbara Pinson co-anchors WBTV News This Morning and WBTV News at Noon with John Carter.

Hometown: Metro-Detroit, Michigan

Education: B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Michigan and M.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Miami.

Career: "I joined the WBTV family in April, 2007, as a Consumer Reporter and the Anchor of the Saturday 6pm and 11pm Newscasts on WBTV. I also anchored the 10pm on WJZY. Before moving to Charlotte, I was a Reporter and Weekend Anchor for WIVB in Buffalo, New York. I had the same position and duties at both WEYI in Flint, Michigan, and KEPR in Washington State.

But before I ever stepped in front of a camera... I spent a good chunk of time behind the scenes in Miami, Florida and Detroit, Michigan. In other words, I've been in the business for a minute, or two. Counting the years would give my age away... hmmm... let's not do that! Outside of the newsroom, I've been fortunate to be in a position to help develop future journalists by teaching college-level courses. Saint Bonaventure University, Buffalo State College and most recently, the Carolina School of Broadcasting. I really love to teach... because when we teach we learn."

Hobbies/Activities: "Aside from being a big movie buff, I enjoy working out, traveling, Latin dancing and spending as much time as possible with my family. Mentoring young adults and being a part of educational and health-focused community events are also big priorities for me."

Thoughts on Being in Charlotte: "Thank you for welcoming me. I'm lovin' it here... in fact... 'It's Joyful and Triumphant!'"
