Cam Man Ron Lee

Cam Man Ron Lee

Hometown : San Diego, California

Education: Degree in Telecommunications

Career: Ron started out in broadcasting close to two decades ago. His second day as an intern at KNSD-TV in San Diego, he was sent to a shootout in a McDonald's in San Ysidro where he spent hours crouched behind police cars ducking for cover from flying bullets. It was then he knew he wanted to do this for a living. That...and his lack of math skills.

From there, he took a job at the CBS affiliate, KFMB as a photographer assistant. He spent two years there before deciding to take a job at WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina. Ron describes the transition from going from San Diego to Columbia in the middle of the summer as "slamming your head in a car door over and over again for two years". He then took a position at the ABC affiliate in Charlotte, although reluctant to divulge the station name because…in his words.."the nightmares have finally started going away".

After a two year stint there, he was offered and accepted the position as Chief Photographer in Charleston, South Carolina where he covered such stories from the Susan Smith tragedy to every hurricane that came within a 200 mile radius. Three years later, he was called back up the big leagues to work at WBTV. He has covered everything from being at ground zero in New York on 9/11, to being the guest of honor for a Christmas parade. A couple of years after being here, he was promoted to Chief Photographer, and a year or so after that, Cam Man was born.

Honors: Ron has received numerous AP and RTNDA-C awards for photography.

Hobbies: Surfing (Hey…I'm from California), long distance cycling, racquetball, and trying to make enough money to pay to feed two Basset Hounds.

Favorite Food: Sushi…again, the California thing.
