Maureen O'Boyle

Hometown: Charlotte, NC

Family: one daughter, Keegan. In 1999 I began the greatest chapter of my life, as mother to my incredible daughter Keegan. My hard work for so many years afforded me the opportunity to completely dedicate myself to her for four full years. I was able to be there when she took her first steps and spoke those precious first words.

Education: Graduated from West Charlotte High School. Attended East Carolina University.

Career: Began at the college radio station WZBM; Worked on camera, writing, producing, and anchoring morning news breaks at the NBC affiliate in Washington, NC; After two years in Spokane, I was off to New York to become weekend anchor and reporter for "A Current Affair." In three years, I was named anchor when Maury Povich moved to daytime talk. In 1994, I left New York for the west coast and became a daytime talkshow host and then was the main anchor for the entertainment news magazine show "EXTRA."

My job at WBTV is one of those times in life when you get to come full circle. When I was just a young eager news reporter while going to college in Greenville, NC, I came home for the holidays and asked for a meeting with family friend Loonis McGlohon, WBTV and WBT Music Director in the 1960's and 1970's. He looked very nicely at this very young, very green reporter and told me to keep up the hard work but I'd need more experience before he could hire me. Unfortunately, Loonis passed away before this circle completed itself. I am so happy to be home and among the people who know me best and love me the deepest: my family.

Hobbies: cooking, horse back riding, searching flea markets for treasures, looking into the eyes of my daughter in the middle of a great belly laugh, and enjoying a nice big meal with family and friends that lasts for hours!
