After Elisa Baker was charged, many people wondered why Adam Baker wasn't charged as well.
District Attorney Jay Gaither said there was not credible evidence that anyone other than Elisa Baker was involved in the child's death.
When Adam Baker heard the news about his wife's indictment, he says he jumped up and down crying.
He has said all along that he had nothing to do with Zahra's death and dismemberment.
Furthermore, he said he was duped by Elisa Baker and that their whole marriage was a lie.
"Elisa is very manipulative, um, abusive…to me, very controlling," he said.
Still, many are wondering how he could have not known that Zahra was dead.
According to the indictment, Elisa Baker kept Zahra's death hidden from family members.
"With work, I was gone first thing in the morning and didn't get home til late," Adam Baker said.
Zahra normally went to be early.
"From what I could tell, she was in bed, it looked like she was in bed, there was something in bed," he said.
He claims that Elisa Baker even told him what to say in the 911 call when he reported his daughter missing in October of 2010.
We asked what he now thinks of his wife.
"I hope Elisa gets everything she deserves," he said.
He wishes he had never met her and believes Zahra would still be alive today had he not brought Elisa into their lives.
"That's the biggest mistake I've ever made and I'll regret that for the rest of my life," he said.
Adam Baker says he has no intention of talking with Elisa and that he has nothing more to say to her.
Baker says he hopes Hickory police will now give him permission to return home to Australia where he would like to get back to work, save some money, and then eventually return to the United States. He wants to be here when the murder case goes to trial.
