Forecasters say the snow, which is wet and heavy throughout the area, will likely cause large branches and some trees to fall due to the added weight, which could lead to isolated power outages.
Roads will remain slick throughout the morning and officials urge extreme caution while traveling. Temperatures will rise above freezing Saturday with sunshine in the after, which should improve road conditions.
Forecasters believe slick roadways will be an issue Saturday night as any snow accumulation melts and freezes and temperatures dip after nightfall. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is encouraging drivers to stay off the roadways in the Pee Dee and Grand Strand due to deteriorating conditions.
