Sinkhole causing traffic issues on Randolph Road

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A sinkhole in east Charlotte may affect the evening drive home for some commuters Tuesday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., officials with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Department (CMUD) said there was as sinkhole near a sewer manhole along the 1900 block of Randolph Road.

Only one lane is open in each direction on Randolph Road between Caswell Road and Colonial Avenue.

Drivers in this area may want to consider taking Third Street and Providence Road as an alternate route.

CUMD says the inside lanes of Randolph Road will likely be closed thru the evening rush hour.
