
Ruben Garcia-RosarioCHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The man accused of plotting to kidnap two sisters from their Cornelius home made his first appearance in federal court Monday morning.
Ruben Garcia-Rosario was arrested in September and faced new federal charges today.
According to police, Garcia-Rosario stalked the two girls at their bus stop and threatened to kill them in a ransom note.
Garcia-Rosario was charged with five counts on Monday. They charges are being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm; being an illegal alien deported to Mexico and returning without permission of Homeland Security; conspiracy to commit a felony kidnapping and participating in interstate commerce to commit the conspiracy; conspiracy to commit a felony kidnapping; and carrying a firearm to commit a federal crime.
He was assigned a court-appointed attorney and ordered to be detained in the Mecklenburg County Jail. His next court date will be a bond hearing scheduled for Monday, Nov. 30.
