
Anary Morrison Bellamy (Photo courtesy of the Iredell County jail)IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A PTO board member in Iredell County is facing numerous counts of forgery and embezzlement charges.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, the principal of Celeste Henkel School filed a report on Tuesday, Nov. 10 indicating there were discrepancies in the PTO's checking account.
After speaking with several board members, sheriff's investigators discovered that someone who is rarely involved in the board's activities signed four checks that were written in October.
Investigators later found out the name on the checks were forged.
The sheriff's office says the past and now current PTO president at Celeste Henkel School, Anary Morrison Bellamy, forged a number of checks and embezzled more than $5,000 from the PTO fund.
Bellamy was charged with four counts of common law forgery and 16 counts of embezzlement.
She is being held in the Iredell County jail under a $50,000 bond.
