CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Mayor-elect Anthony Foxx has made his presence known in many classrooms across the Charlotte Mecklenburg School district since he won the Charlotte mayoral race in early November.

Foxx has been talking to students, and this week, he even made a trip back to his alma mater--Irwin Elementary school.

Foxx is a product of the Charlotte Mecklenburg School district.  Many believe having an African-American mayor will help increase academic achievement throughout CMS.

Foxx will be visiting Garinger High School Friday afternoon where he will congratulate students for a job well done and WBTV will be there.

We'll ask students and teachers what impact they think the Mayor-elect might have on test scores in CMS.  We'll also be looking at what CMS board members think about Foxx spending so much time with CMS students?
