Employee embezzles school fundraising money, police say

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - An employee is accused of embezzling hundreds of dollars in fundraising money from an elementary school in west Charlotte.

The theft happened at Hornet's Nest Elementary School on Beatties Ford Road.  The money was stolen on Friday, Sept. 25.

According to a report filed with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Wednesday, Nov. 18, the employee did not deposit $750 at the bank.

Police say the employee could face embezzlement and larceny charges.
