CORNELIUS, NC (WBTV) - WBTV recently aired a news story about $800 worth of vinyl siding that was stolen from a Habitat for Humanity home.
A member of the Cabarrus County Marine Corps League #1175 saw our story and was moved to take action.
He passed around his hat at a one of their league meetings. When he donated the money to Habitat for Humanity, the director was moved to tears.
Terry Laney says his dealings with people as Director of Habitat, have changed his life. The kindness of strangers willing to give often helps him put things in perspective.
The Marine Corps League collected $300 at their monthly meeting. The money will help replace some of the vinyl siding stolen so work can resume on finishing the Habitat home.
Bob Cole with the Marine Corps League says it's just what Marines do.
