
DENVER, NC (WBTV) - Two Denver men died in a single-vehicle crash in Lincoln County late Sunday night.
The accident happened on Saint James Church Road near Fieldcrest Lane around 10:13 p.m.
When the vehicle crashed into a tree, it broke up into 3 separate pieces.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Brandon Zinn, 20, was traveling west at a speed of nearly 125 mph when he lost control of his vehicle. He died at the scene.
Zinn's passenger, Timothy Wilkes Jr., 16, was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center and he died a short time later.
Both men were wearing their seatbelts when the crash occurred.
A state trooper said the posted speed limit on the road is 45 mph.
