CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Jehan Shamsid-Deen is a self-described dork. She grew up immersed in a pile of books. She absorbed every morsel of knowledge put in front of her. Those morsels helped earn her $250,000 from the game show, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire".

Shamsid-Deen says she grew up in a tough part of town. The Harding University High School graduate says her favorite teacher helped teach her to reach for the stars.

Milton Caldwell was a veteran Social Studies teacher at Harding. He was loved and well-respected among his students. Jehan says his influence helped put her in the "Millionaire" hot-seat.

Caldwell passed away in January just before Jehan could share with him her success. She's confident however, Mr. Caldwell already knows.
