CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Seniors in Mecklenburg County who are on Medicare will be able to get a free flu shot on Friday.

Health experts say a flu shot is the best way for older adults to protect themselves from getting the flu.

The Better Business Bureau Consumer Foundation will be hosting "Senior Scene 2009".

Flu shots will be available from 9 am - 2 pm at Carmel Baptist Church, 1145 Pineville-Mattews Road in Matthews, NC.

Here are more details for Senior Scene 2009:

FREE flu shots for Medicare recipients - $25 for non-Medicare recipients. Advance reservations are requested for flu shots only - call (704) 684-6036 by Thursday, October 8 to reserve a time slot.
Free blood pressure screenings
Free hearing tests
Medicare Part D insurance information.
Prescription and non-prescription drug reviews by registered pharmacists.
Meet Wayne Goodwin, Commissioner, N.C. Dept. of insurance

Different goverenment agencies will be in attentance for any questions you may have about:

U. S. Census 2010
U. S. Social Security Administration
Veterans Affairs Benefits.

Senior Scene recommended that all adults between the ages of 55 and older to attend this informational event. This event is free and open to the public .
