Consumer Stories...Focus on Hispanic foods at local grocery chain

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Many of the customers who shop at the Food Lion grocery store on South Boulevard in Charlotte have some specific requests.

"Our customers were looking for products that reminded them of home, but many of them we just didn't carry," said Owen Hernandez, a project manager for a new Food Lion program that's bringing Hispanic flavor to 19 stores.

There are more than 1,000 products in those stores now, from meat and dairy, to vegetables and sweets, which come from latin countries across the globe.

"I have a lot of choice and I really like all of the different meats," said Jose Valle, speaking through a translator.
