New Beatles CDs and video game hit stores

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Alan Kaufman is a life-long Beatles fan.  He's been waiting to pick up his new boxed set of all of the Beatles albums for quite some time.  He doesn't mind paying more than $200 for it and he sums up the new CD release in one sentence.

"This is like Christmas and New Year's and my birthday all in one," Kaufman says.

This is the first re-issue of the Beatles catalog since it came out on CD in the 1980's.  The new versions of the songs are clearer, sharper, crisper than what has been on the market before.

At Manifest Discs on South Boulevard in Charlotte, business was steady throughout the day with Beatles fans picking up pre-ordered and off-the-shelf boxed sets and individual CD's.

"Artists re-issue their work all the time and nobody cares.  When the Beatles do it it's something special,"said associate store manager Rich Challen.

It was back in the far reaches of the store that the more modern way to listen and play along to Beatles classics was drawing small crowds.

The Beatles version of the Rock Band video game allows fans to sing along, play guitar, and even drums, to their favorite Beatles songs.
