'Sugar' the horse
LONGS, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police have charged a Longs man with having sex with a horse for a second time.
According to authorities, Rodell Vereen, 50, was charged Tuesday morning with buggery/sodomy, trespassing and probation violation.
Officers were called to the 2300 block of Coates Road just before 11 p.m. Monday, where the owner of the horse said Vereen was previously arrested for buggery and trespassing on June 30, but she felt something was still going on with the horses.
The owner said she had surveillance cameras installed in the barn and had video of Vereen having sex with the horse, Sugar. The owner says she wanted to catch Vereen in the act before she called police again.
On Monday, she reported seeing Vereen's vehicle, and when she went to check on the horses she found Vereen, who ran from the scene. She told investigators she was able to hold Vereen for police at shotgun-point.
Vereen was arrested on trespassing charges. After reviewing the surveillance video, Vereen was later charged with buggery. According to an incident report, Vereen admitted to having sex with the horse. This is the second offense against Vereen for buggery.
Vereen was in court Tuesday, where he received $30,000 bond on the probation violation and buggery charges. Vereen pleaded guilty to trespassing and was sentenced to 15 days in jail and a $215 fine.
