Christine Nelson is the co-anchor of WBTV News This Morning and WBTV News at Noon.
Hometown: A native of Miami, Florida, Nelson also spent part of her childhood in Rochester, New York, and she doesn't miss those cold winters.
Family: She is married to William and they welcomed their daughter, Camryn Alexis, to the world in July 2009. Her parents are Barbara and Rupert. Christine is the youngest of six kids and has two nieces and two nephews. Most of her immediate family now resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
Education: She graduated from Miami Sunset Senior High School and was a member of the state championship volleyball team her senior year. Christine received a full athletic scholarship to the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). She graduated four years later with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
Career: Christine's first television job landed her in Greenville, Mississippi at WABG-TV. Christine was a bureau reporter and a short time later, was promoted to main anchor for their 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts.
Her next career move would take her to KLTV in Tyler, Texas, where she was the 5 p.m. anchor and reporter. While at KLTV Christine, traveled on-assignment to Africa, anchored wall-to-wall coverage of the devastation of Hurricane Ike in the region, traveled to a U.S. Army base in Fort Polk, Louisiana to interview East Texas soldiers going to war, and covered the opening of the Bill Clinton Presidential Library.
She interviewed the likes of then Senator Barack Obama during his presidential campaign and former First Lady Laura Bush.
Four years later, WBTV would come calling. Eager to get back to the east coast and closer to family, Christine jumped on the opportunity to work with the crew at WBTV.

Honors: Christine has been honored by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters as the 2008 Best Anchor which recognizes excellence in anchoring, live reporting and covering breaking news. She also received the Best Anchor Team award in 2007. She is most proud of her reporting work which includes honors such as Best General Assignment report in 2008 from the National Association of Black Journalists, which she is a member of.
Hobbies: Christine loves watching sports, especially college football and basketball. When she's not catching up on sleep, she still loves to get out and play volleyball. She and her husband also enjoy playing tennis in their spare time. Christine loves volunteering and speaking to young people.
